Re: [Harp-L] Kim Wilson clip, and the upper register

Simple blow bends in Holes 10, 9, 8. There are no draw bends or overblows up there on a standard diatonic, and Kim doesn't do overdraws (or overblows) the last I checked.

That high lick goes:

Blow 10, followed by Blow 10 bent down 2 semitones (i.e. all the way bent)

Blow 9 followed, by Blow 9 bent down 1 semitone (i.e. all the way bent)

Blow 8 started bent and slid up (i.e. released)

Blow 9 started slightly bent and quickly released, then bent down as a separate note

Blow 8 started bent and slid up (i.e. released)

Subject: [Harp-L] Kim Wilson clip, and the upper register

I'm
talking
about
the
notes
he's
hitting
on
an
"A"
harp
in
1st
position,
around
2:28
minutes
into
the
clip.

What
kind
of
bends
are
these.
Simple
blow
bends?
draw
bends?
overblows?

It
seems
that
rather
than
spend
a
lot
of
time
"up
there",
most
players,
even
the
better
ones,
just
make
"excursions"
for
the
sake
of
having
done
so,
once
or
twice
during
the
song.

Then
there's
Jimmy
Reed.

Maybe
I
should
just
ignore
the
low
notes
for
a
while,
and
let
those
"lonely
notes"
up
the
scale
have
some
of
my
attention.

P.S.,,by
the
way,
thanks
to
everyone
on
harp-l
for
taking
my
harpfession
(harp
confession).
Whew.
I
was
carrying
a
lot
of
harpguilt
around
for
so
long.
I'm
feeling
much
better
now.
