ok I did it in three productions. The biggest was the Walnut st. Theatre Philadelphia.
At walnut st. I played Jaw harp, diatonic and bass harmonica. There is a book with written parts.
I kept to the book for most of the show. Some of the parts are written with other musicians like the fiddle and harmonica section at the
end of the entrecte.

I suggest getting the part and the recording in advance. I have a copy of the harmonica part if you need it.

When I reached dinner theatre (the Dutch Apple Lancaster PA) I hung it up.

The director can change what they want. In Maine they put a square dance in the begining of the show and I had to
start the whole darn show. I came from the back of the house and a spot light hit me at the fourth row and I started playing
the overture. Hopefully the conductor got my tempo and there wasn't a train wreck.

Good Luck,

Emile Diggs D'Amico

I've just been asked to play as they call it "signifigent" harmonica part with the local high school orchestra.
I know some of you fellow harplers have done other productions of this musical. I was wondering if you could share ( either on or off list ) what to expect ie, did you have to sight read, play specific prerecorded parts, just improvise ( well of course! )?
Did you use any special tunings, harmonicas?
Thanks for any and all help. Truthfully, I'm excited. I'm a big fan of dynamics, so playing with an orchestra is the cat's meow for me!
