Bob,
Most of my harps are LOs and the 'top end' and blow bends work as
well on them as the other brands I have. I'm not up to OBs yet
though!
Remember when the 2 draw was 'broken'? It got fixed with
practice. Remember when the bent 2 draw was broken? Remember when
the three semitone 3 draw bend was a myth? The 7 - 10 area and
blow bends on 8 - 10 are pretty much the same. Try a tuner, or
Bendometer software if you want. Or a CD (or even another harp in a
key with the note you are after as a 'straight' blow or draw) that
demonstrates the note you are trying to get.
Find a simple first position tune you know that uses that end of
the harp - most of the beginners books have one or more. Or grab a
tab for a pop song off HarpTabs. Their 'Stairway to Heaven' and
'Piano Man' tabs for the vocal line spend a bit of time on the top
end of the harp.
Practice!
