Re: [Harp-L] Wireless Rig
Eric,
I also use the Harmonica Honker. I found an excellent but inexpensive
unit, the UHF-16, from Nady in Emeryville. This gives me an impressive
TWO belt packs! You look armed and ready to go. Suggest you check them
out. When making a choice, I (as a professional nerd) considered the
following factors as most important:
1. UHF: the VHF frequencies are very crowded. If you get VHF, you risk
finding yourself sharing the frequency with who knows and very frequently.
2. Frequency Agility: even though you are on UHF, you run the risk that
someone is already using the frequency. I had that exact problem with my
normal channel at a casino recently. I was able to switch to an unused
channel and operate just fine.
3. Diversity: Electronics are cheap. Having two receivers instead of
one costs little more but allows the unit to select input from whichever
receiver is getting the best signal. This prevents fadeouts, etc.
