Unused 7 - 10 holes eliminate one third of your note choices - a full  octave.
 
It would be like having an 88 key piano in which 37 of the upper notes  don't 
work. Why deny yourself so much?
 
Most problems with upper notes not sounding occur when you try too hard to  
play them - blowing. Breathe them instead. Get to know them before you worry  
about OB.
