Re: [Harp-L] Harp and Sax
Hi
A Couple come to mind: one chromatic and one diatonic. The DVD of the Charlie Hunter Quintet, "Right Now Live," has a lot of Gregoire Maret's (chromatic harmonica) work in the 'horn section' along with tenor sax and trombone - doing all the above.
Check out Red Archibald's CDs for diatonic, e.g., "West Coast Soul Stew". As I recall, there are a few cuts that fit the bill, plus a lot of great leads by both Red on harp and Don Baraka on sax.
Cheers,
Staggerin' Jim

Subject: [Harp-L] Harp and Sax
I'm about to get involved in a new project with harp, sax and possibly
Hammond organ doing mostly instrumentals and jazzy blues. My question to you all
is can anyone point me to recorded examples of sax and harp playing together
in either unison, harmony, counterpoint or all of the above?
Thanks from snowy Chicago,
