[Harp-L] Switchcraft connector thread

Hi, Frank

The thread is 3/8-32

On JT30's and other Astatic mics the cable exit hole is already too  
big. I make a bushing that press-fits into the hole, and thread the  
bushing for the connector. On Shure bullets you'll have to enlarge the  
hole to drill size "Q" prior to tapping.

If you don't want the knurled portion at the base of the connector to  
show you'll need to get rid of it first - very difficult to do without  
a lathe.

Because you can't get the nut on the backside you can't use the solder  
lug that comes with the connector for your ground connection,  
therefore you'll have to create one - drill and tap a hole in the  
shell somewhere it won't show for a screw and lug.

By all means don't try to retain the connector with glue, or even the  
old cable sprint retention setscrew. It won't last.

Tooling up to do this properly yourself is an expensive proposition.  
(Selfish self interest statement to follow:) That's why people pay me  
to do this for them!
