I'm right handed, but I hold the harp with my right. Never thought about it much; just felt comfortable that way.
I've recently discovered, after years of teaching groups, the reason my instruction to beginners to angle the harp across their mouths in order to isolate single notes (particularly for bending the lower 4)  often seems to make no impression.
Most people play right-handed with the harp in the left. Angling the harp to isolate the lower notes brings the treble end up infront of the players face, even contacting the nose, which most people find disconcerting.
Doing it my way means the harp descends from the mouth. 
I always play the harp on an angle ("cross harp"??) when playing single notes; straight when I'm tongue blocking.
I can't imagine how it could effect the tone.

I was watching a RIck Utube where he was playing into a vocal mic and
he held his harp in a strange way, the low notes appeared to be on his
left but he was gripping the harp with his right hand while wah-wahing
with his left.  I have seen Rick play a million times yet never
noticed this before.  Is he left handed?  Anyone here play that way?
DOes it create a dinstinctive tone?
