[Harp-L] Re: An english question

'Support acts' are usually the warm up act for the billed 'star'. There may be a heirarchy of 'famousness' if there's more than one support act. I've seen a local band as the warm up (only for the local gigs), then a well known Aussie band as the support act (doing the whole Aussie leg of the international tour with the headliner), then the international group on tour as the headline act.

If there are multiple 'stars', the batting order usually indicates relative stardom. For example, a local Aussie band opened as the support act for a touring double header here. But then 'Status Quo' went on before 'Deep Purple' as Deep Purple were considered the headliners.

Its a bit different in the festival context, where the 'batting order' of the groups is not necessarily a reflection of their relative 'star' status. But I don't care if Rod Piazza plays before or after Watermelon Slim and/or the Holmes Brothers. That was a good night regardless!

Cheers
