Re: [Harp-L] Sonny Terry and Finian's Rainbow
I remember hearing a story about Sonny Terry and wonder if it is true, and,
if so, if this is the musical.
Apparently, because it being a Broadway show, Sonny was asked to create
music and duplicate it exactly night after night. At first, Sonny argued that,
being a bluesman and improviser, he played in the moment and from the heart and
could not recreate his performance night after night - that was, until he got
a look at the size of the check offered for the gig, and then he did a 180
degree turnaround on this concept.
