[Harp-L] sound card

I have the shelf Dell sound card 'SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio'. Recording harmonica music to Audacity is problematic. Clipping is almost impossible to eliminate unless I lower the input to a level where you can hardly hear the solo. The quality of the recorded sound is thin and tinny even accounting for my rookie harp playing skills. This card does not even allow adjustments to treble and bass.... these features are disabled for this card.

Does anyone out there have this card and if so do you experience these problems?
