Re: [Harp-L] George harmonica Smith
For the rarest George Harmonica Smith, look for him with the Plaster
Caster Blues Band or the Sky Saxon band!
He's a KIng for sure.

Stumbled upon George Harmonica Smith playing with the Muddy Waters
Band, Eugene Oregon 1971. There were maybe a dozen clips from this
concert. Muddy is in a plaid suit. What an amazing band. Relaxed
and in the pocket and flat nailing it. What struck me is how
utterly good George Smith is in this role. Atlas holding up Muddy's
world. I saw a comment from Shrimp Daddy saying that George Smith
doesn't get the credit he deserves. I'd agree. His recorded output
wasn't nearly as prodigious as the Walters and it was a lot harder
to find for a long time. Really fun to see him shine in this
footage. Want an antidote to Cadillac Records? Go to you tube and
search for Muddy Waters live and watch all of these Eugene Oregon
show clips. I'm not usually one to watch this stuff and I don't
spend my life surfing you tube so I was pleasantly surprised to find
such gems. Way better than the later years, late 70's when Muddy
Waters was having trouble standing for any length of time and it was
really the Pinetop Perkins band with a cameo from Muddy. fjm
p.s. if anyone watches these there's a left handed guitar player who
appears briefly and he is playing the guitar flipped. Who the heck was that?
