[Harp-L] RP200 with Hunter patches

Hi Richard-

I believe there is value added from my efforts in programming the
RP200-everything has to be done on the unit, no MIDI . . . lots of scrolling
thru menus, all while hunched over the unit.

Hopefully someone will want this unit as is, I can sell it to them, and they
can purchase the patch set license from you.

Gary

PS No, I never thought you were recommending this as a vocal effects unit.
My situation is that I don't take all my gear to any given job, and wind up
neglecting equipment which could potentially augment my sound, in an effort
to make my setup easier.

So I don't set up a separate harmonica mike . . . and am unlikely to use
this unit.

Gary,

Thanks for your candid comments. I'm sorry the RP200 patch set didn't work
for you. It was never intended as a vocal effect unit, and I hope and
believe I said nothing that encouraged you to think that it was.

The price you're currently offering the unit at--$50--is well below the norm
for RP200s in good condition, and I'm sure you'll have no problem selling
the unit without the patch set.

No single device will work for everybody. Like I said, I'm sorry this one
didn't work for you. I count my own equipment dollars carefully, and I try
to make sure that my customers get their money's worth and then some. I
make unadulterated samples of the sounds available on my website so people
can hear before they buy. I use the same sounds myself on almost every gig.
And I've put in a lot of time with other buyers to help them get the results
they're looking for with the patch set. If you change your mind about
selling the RP200, I'll be glad to discuss with you ways to get the sound
you're looking for (on the harp, anyway).

I don't apologize for insisting that buyers live up to the terms of the
agreement. I make a point of ensuring that everyone who buys reads that
part of the deal. And I believe that the quality of the product is worth
much more than the modest asking price, even if the set can't be resold.

Like I said, I'm sorry it didn't work for you. If there's something I can
do to help, short of rewriting the contract, please advise.

Thanks, Richard Hunter

Gary,

Can I ask candidly why you're selling the device?

I'm not using it and I need the money.

Were you dissatisfied with the sounds, or found something better, or...?

Last night I got it out of storage and hooked it up-I have not been using
it, since mostly I play harp thru my vocal mike.

It's not a device I want to run my vocal thru, that's for sure.

I also tried hooking up a Kaoss pad which was also in storage-that's
probably what I will wind up using.

Also, I'm obliged to remind you that when you bought the patch set, you
agreed to the following terms:

**************************************************************************

Please note that the patchset is copyrighted material. You are purchasing

a license for unrestricted personal use of the patchset in any Digitech
RP-series

device owned by you, including both paid and unpaid performance. Your
license does

NOT allow you to transfer any of the patch data to anyone else in any form,
whether

or not you are paid for the transfer via exchange of money, goods, services,
or

anything else. If these terms are not acceptable, please don't buy the
patchset.

I can only keep the price low if buyers respect these terms.

**************************************************************************

You're planning to sell both the device with the patches in it, AND the
print out, both of which violate the terms of this agreement. As I noted in
my email to you at the time I sold you the patch set, I purposely set my
price for the patch set very low in order to make it possible for people to
buy. If the patch set gets out "into the wild", I can't afford to sell at
that price. That means that others won't be able to afford the patch set,
and I won't be able to afford to keep developing new patches.

I have no quarrel with your selling the RP200. There's a simple reset
procedure described in the manual that will wipe the patch set from memory.
Please use it, and destroy the printout of the RP200 patches before you sell
the device.

Yeah, I bought the unit used from a person on eBay specifically on your
recommendation. Then I programmed it using your printout and tried it a
little bit.

It's not such a big deal to me to lose money on the whole deal. Obviously
you are concerned about protecting your investment.

I was never impressed with what I got from the unit.

Thanks for writing.

Gary
