I suggest that someone put a harmonica in Mr. Short's hand and ask him to play 4 measures in Little Walter's style.  That should settle the issue.

Of course it's nothing new for Hollywood to put someone with skill in the background while the star acts in the foreground.  One of the cable stations I subscribe to recently ran a series of films devoted to the accomplishments of Marnie Nixon, the fabulous singer who (among many other films) sang the parts of Natalie Wood (Maria) in "West Side Story" and Deborah Kerr's role in "The King and I."  A standard clause in Ms. Nixon's contracts was the requirement that she never disclose that it was she who did the singing.
