And, in the 1940s, the exchange rate was three marks to one dollar. When I was going to school in Europe in 1997, the exchange rate was was 1.7 marks to one dollar. That's a lot of price increase before inflation is factored in.

You beat me to it. It is relative to what "today's money" is. Everybody wants to get the most for their money (myself included), but the "good old days" when a MB was 3 bucks, we made a heck of a lot less money. If we still want 3 dollar harps, we'll have to go back to making 1.50/hour. Not me, I like making 1.51/hour..........LOL
