This won't help much, Jens, but I used to have one and felt the same way. I
bought it out of youth, ego, and ignorance. Man, did it look badass.
Trouble is, the "Lead" channel was a feedback nightmare, and sounded all
fake and transistory for harp, and the "Normal" channel was too clean. The
amp was loud as hell, but it wasn't a good harp amp.
Possibly you could do some tube swaps to beef up the clean channel, but I'm
skeptical - especially if you do not want to play at ungodly volumes. I
wound up selling mine and put the money toward an old class A amp, which I
still gig with today. If your Classic 50 is still in good shape, you should
get a decent price for it on ebay, with the understanding that it's a beast
to ship anywhere.
Of course, I expected the new little amp to solve all of my tone issues, and
of course it didn't, and then I made a concerted effort to work on my tone
from a non-electronic standpoint, which is the best thing I ever did for my
playing, but that's another thread......
Good luck. Maybe you'll get better advice from some of the more gear-savvy
people here.
