[Harp-L] re:Richard l Smith
I first met Richard around 1997-98 at Buckeye. I bought his repair book and he gave me one of his blow reed lifting tools. I've made a couple of my own since then and have him to thank for making a difficult job of tuning blow reeds easier. He also motivated me to have respect for vintage harps and try to keep them true to original design when repairing or restoring. He personally guided me through some of his exhibits at harp fests. You will never see me restore a prewar with screws or non wood combs.
I'll miss you buddy.
