Probably the absence of the lower frequencies which a 12" excels at
producing which would substantially overlap with the roar from a
humbucker-driven Marshall 4x12 cabinet. That's a *lot* of clutter in the
lower-midrange frequencies for a harp to compete against. Maybe "focus"
would be a good adjective to use to describe the sound I was getting from
the 8s, maybe what I got was the amp itself. Again, the sound wasn't as
sweet as what I get from my vintage amp, just more appropriate for the
sonic assault that is The Thunder Chiefs.
