[Harp-L] re: Being heard in a rock band

Hi all,
A player named Joe Mancuso plays with a chugging vibrato technique and cuts through a loud stage playing a SJ410. He has a great way of playing underneath the guitar with a strong presence, but not excessive. The amp allows a confident player to shine.
This is with harp, vocals, two guitars, bass, drums, sometimes sax
I play through the amp and can cut through.
The biggest problem is hearing myself. The amp is on the floor and the stage(s) sound level is high. It is amazing how good the music can sound in the house when on stage it is radically different.
  Thanks,
  Brian

Being heard has a lot to do with what you play as well as what you play
it
through. Try taking a scheduled solo rather than playing through the
whole
song, so the band can lay out a little, and when you have to use the
low
harps, play the high holes. Two guitars, a bass and a drum set can
drown out
any low chord chugging. Pick the amp off the floor too.
