You have to notice of course, that a music box and a harmonica produce
sound from two totally different mechanisms.

Sure.

However amplified though, what you hear is the signal coming directly from the reed (or tine).

And it sure is sweet.

In a harmonica airflow is cut by the swinging reed, and what you hear is the pulsating airflow, NOT the reed and if you look at the waveform of harmonia sound it doesn't look nearly like the sinus waveform produced from a swinging tine in a soundbox.

Hmm, you must work for one of the manufacturers. You really know your stuff.

BTW, a soundbox doesn't have more overtones than a harmonica, but far less.

Meanwhile, I LOVE the sound of the harmonica. It can penetrating yet soft. It can be spine tingling yet soothing. It can be racous yet be etheral. Gut wrenching and yet tear the corpuscles out of your heart. I think they are just like women. I think they are just the greatest thing and the people who make them are doing a great job under the circumstances of cost and available materials. I think I shall go and see if one of mine will 'allow' me to play it. :)
