Uh.....have I missed something? What the hell is 'G4' and 'A4'? I seem to see it more & more.

The letter refers to the scale degree. A-G
The number refers to the octave on the piano.
C4 is "middle C" on the piano. A4 and G4 are higher in pitch.
The C above that is C5.
Using the piano as a reference makes sense because pianos are standard and harmonicas are not.
