A quibble.  Brad and J.R., in talking about patents and patent 
applications, refer to the "USPO."  That is usually taken to refer to 
the United States Post Office.  The office that deals with patents is 
usually referred to (including by the office itself) as the "USPTO" for 
U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

On the merits, J.R. raises a very interesting point.  I look forward to 
the further discussion.
