[Harp-L] Ash Grove 50th @ UCLA April 18-20

Some of you may remember the Ash Grove, a venue in West Hollywood closed in'74. Some of you may know it's importance as an incredible incubator for Americana roots music from '58-'74. Its 50th Anniversary is a huge celebration at UCLA April 18-Sunday April 20.

I thought the special evening concerts at Royce Hall were sold out, but they're not!

Harp content: Note the Saturday night show includes a big Tribute To George Smith with James Harman, Johnny Dyer, Rod Piazza and others. Friday's hot too! And Sunday's free!

Taj Mahal; will be around too, as will many others, from Bernice Reagon (with the original Freedom Singers) to Guy Carawan to Ramblin' Jack to Holly Near to the Watts Prophets to John Hammond to Michelle Shocked, Ry Cooder, Dave Alvin, and on and on . . . it's an extraordinary watershed event for roots music in SoCal.

The daytime workshops are free but tix required, so get there early. Here's a link:

Check it out! And if ticketmaster says it's sold out, tell them UCLA just told the organizing committee they still have more than 90 tickets available.
