[Harp-L] Re: What do you want to be called?

You can't name yourself. It's bad luck.

It is sometimes a longstanding bummer in military or sporting special teams
and operations when your peers saddle you with what becomes your operational
field name and radio call sign. Your given surname becomes secondary to this
label for the remainder of your career. As with a caricature by a boardwalk
artist, these tags typically reflect some exaggerated physical feature,
personality trait, habit or mannerism. Rarely are these flattering or bring to
mind a favorable attribute.

But, alas because it was bestowed upon you by people that care enough about
you to gift it to you after their attention and consideration. Because, as
with the naming of babies by North American Natives, you live with it, wear
it standing upright unabashedly and unflinchingly make it your own.
