Yup, the Bb harp sounds more appropriate than the C harp in this tune especially for country.

Checked out Charlie on the videos and he is playing the F chord draw Bb harp in lieu of the F chord blow F harp for the first chord. Less movin' around I guess.

However, I also like the sound of the C harp even if some may challenge the use/appropriateness of those chords.

F harp for the opening second position licks (in C).

Then there's that walking-down riff that leads into the key of F.

At this point you play the part where you just chug through the chord progression F - Bb - C - F a couple of times. For this you alternate between an F harp and a Bb harp:

F chord - play this either as a blow chord on the F harp or draw chord on the Bb.

Bb chord - blow chord on the Bb

C chord - draw chord on the F harp

F chord - stay on the F harp.

After this part comes the main orange Blossom Melody. You play that in first position on the F harp.

Then the key switches back to C and you're back to playing second position licks on the F harp.

    Hope this helps.

I have been playing harp for about 14 years.I have pretty descent tone and probabably have fooled a few people into thinking i can really play harmonica.I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to play with a rock band fronm the jersey shore .They do Dead, Dylan, Cash, blues country and orig. The opportunity has been agood one for me.I have played with them many times but always on the fly.Sometimes the PA . Sometimes me and my Princeton being drowned out by loud guitars.Still alot of fun.I recently started playing out again after a 4-5 layoff due to the births of my daughter and son. Some with the rock band (bluehighwaysonline.net)Some a local open jam.I interested in using harp-l as place i can get some answers to some questions I have.So now that i have officially introduced myself here is my first question.
I am trying to play Orange Blossom Special (johnny cash version) what key harps are used I am using an F in 2ND
pos. but am unsure of the other harp pos ond key?
               thanks
