Harp as therapy tool? Damn right! Harps sure have been good for my soul, damn near saved my life many times, I'd say.
However, twice I've been threatened with arrest for playing in public (should that come under the criticisms thread?)
Not all cops disdain harp, though. In fact once when I was in a Colorado jail for a brief time (in 1973 accused - falsely! - of killing two Kansas state troopers) the screws let me keep my harp, and by playing I was able to keep my head sorta together. And the screws seemed to like it, so much for cops as music critics (or maybe they'd hoped I'd slash my wrists with the covers?) Luckily they found the real perps and we were out within about 40 hours. It was not fun, but I think it helped my harp playing.
And the harp saved my remaining sanity. For a while, anyway...
Keep playing out, it's good vibes baby! And shuck 'em if they can't take a poke!
