I did a session with Charlie (and James Cotton) for Oak Publications in Nashville in 1979. Charlie walked around the studio every once in a while, playing almost every instrument in sight, and there were more than a few instruments there.

Charlie began his career as a rock and roll guitarist, he told me. Obviously, there is way too much music in that guy to be confined to a single instrument.
