You could play a complete solo on nothing but the 2 inhale. A one note solo
can be very soulful. Reference Neil Young's guitar solo on "Cinnamon Girl".
Next step, since you are using only a few notes, is to understand which
scale degree they are in relation to the simple chords played on the guitar.
For "C", holes 2 and 4 inhale are the root and third. For "E-", those same
notes are minor sixth and root. Same holes and breath direction, but the color
they create are slightly different depending on the chord floating
underneath. Start slow and easy. Have guitar strum "C" chord and inhale hole 2 - long
sustained note. Experience how it feels. Stay on hole 2 and have guitar strum
"E-". Feel the difference.
Each scale degree has its own sense of tension/release, gravity pull, color,
etc. To understand this will lead towards knowing why to play these choices.
