[Harp-L] playing with anesthetic - an experiment...

Yesterday I had the wonderful experience of root canal treatment for my teeth. On the way home, with the left half of my tounge and lower lip completely asleep, i thought "thank god I don`t have a gig tonight" - which immediately led to the question "if I had to play like this - could I do it?" - so when I got home I experimented.
  So, in case you were wondering: it is possible to play harp with half your mouth asleep - but not very well... tounge blocking is very is very clumsy, but I managed to bend OK puckering. The funniest thing was that I thought I was doing all the right things - but I was`nt hearing the results I expected. My wife said it sounded ok to her, so I guess in a pinch I could fake it, avoid speedy TB techniques and maybe get away with it. But the harp players in the house would know the difference.
  Conclusion: make sure to schedule your dental appointments on days when you`re not playing :)
