[Harp-L] Sonny Jr. / Cruncher

I just got back from my drive to CT an hour ago with my new Sonny Jr.
Cruncher in hand. I have been shaking the walls and rattling the dishes ever
since! This is one beast of an amp that cranks pretty close to what the 4-10
does. The smaller size and weight just make it an easier amp for me to
handle in my current situation. As usual Sonny has spared no expense on the
inside or the outside of this amp. It truly is a work of art with its
special lacquer finish. I am very happy that this model has the line out
feature as well as the ease of tube swapping like the 4-10. I will continue
to put it through the paces and report back when I have more to share. I
have a gig next weekend with a blues/soul band so I will be excited to show
it off and see what it can do in a live band situation.

Hanging for a few hours with Sonny was real nice. Listening to his killer
chops through my new baby was sweet. We tried my two favorite mics through
the amp and he showed me how to dial in the sound to maximize the output of
each mic. The crystal element in my biscuit (made by Stephen Edwards)
through the bright channel really screamed. The Turner with the black label
controlled reluctance (a Dennis Oellig Mr.Micrpophone special) element
really roared through the normal input. Then when you bridge the two
channels holy crap! Smoke & Fire erupts from the two 8" and the one 12"
speakers. It's gonna be fun working with the combinations of tubes and
settings to see which emerges as my favorite(s). The best part of buying a
Sonny Jr. amp is that you get Sonny Jr. along with it. His personal level of
customer service is legendary. Being the knucklehead techie that I am it is
quite comforting knowing that he is just a phone call or a 2 hour drive away
from me.

We also discussed the seminar that we will be putting together soon here on
Long Island. Most likely we will wait 'til after the holidays and target
sometime in January. Details will be released in the next month or so as we
put together the total "game plan". Once again I remind any interested
players to get in touch with me as I plan on promoting a series of harp
friendly events at my new place of employment.
