Re: [Harp-L] Never Call Out Stevie Wonder at a Blues Jam

One can learn a lot about one's self and where one stands musically and
communicatively by calling out a difficult tune at a jam and going through the
process of trying to educate the jammers on how to play it. Train wrecks are
worth it for the education.

If the tune tanks, perhaps your musical direction needs tweaking. Not
everyone is a good communicator of music form in the heat of battle, but it is fun
to learn.

Charlie McCoy is one of the best I've witnessed at pulling a band through a
song that no one has ever heard but Charlie and making it work.

If you have a solid enough understanding of how you want the song to sound
and good communication skills with musicians, you can do amazing things on
stage in an impromptu style. If you don't, it is something to work towards.
