Re: [Harp-L] Seydel 1847 ( was U-block)
Hi
In spite of the virtues of the Seydel 1847, the first thing I did was take
it apart and elongate (backward) the screw holes of the comb (one of the
advantages of wood combs; can't do it with Golden Melodys e.g.,) so I could
push the comb forward in the 'sandwich', reducing the prominence of the reed
plates - this is something I routinly do with my Hering Vintage 1923s as
well. Helps a lot.
Cheers,
Staggerin' Jim

Subject: [Harp-L] Seydel 1847 ( was U-block)
After letting my Seydel in A sit for awhile... I took it apart
yesterday and tried to smooth the draw reed plate edge with some fine
steel wool. It made it better, but it's stilll not a harp I will use much.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good harp. While I had it apart, I opened the
gaps on the blow reeds 2-3-4 and that made it play much better for me.
