Reed  plate stamping tool are several times more complex that reed stamping
tools,  and, therefore, more expensive. Also the setup time is higher, so
yes, it is  more economical to have hundreds of reeds and only a few  dozen
reedplates.


Then why does Hohner have different size reedplates (not to mention  reeds) 
for replacements when they introduced the MS (modular  series)?
