[Harp-L] Re:Sonny Terry

If you look at the book the Fred Palmer wrote with Sonny's words, his
discography at the end of the book is probably over 40 different sessions. The
first I see is with Blind Boy Fuller : New York Dec 15, 1937. Then his own Sonny
Terry with some vocals, to playing with Brother George ( Blind Boy Fuller )
and the Santified Singers, two albums with them. His first listed recording
with Brownie McGhee was in New York, Oct 22, 1941. Before that he recorded a
few songs with someone named Oh Red, Then Buddy Moss, 1941, Sonny Terry and
Jordan Webb, 1941, Leadbelly in `1942, then with Brownie McGhee and Champion
Jack Dupree in 1942, worked with Leadbelly from 42-43 on albums, Brownie
recorded under the name of his brother, Sticks Mcghee in 1950 with Sonny, Harry Van
Walls on Piano, bass and drums. Sonny "Hootin" Terry and his Night Owls,
with Brownie and either Bob Gaddy or Wilbert Ellis on Piano. 1950 - Brownie
McGhee and His Jook Block Busters has Sonny, Gaddy, George Woods on drums. Square
Walton with Sonny in 1953, Ralph Willis with Sonny in 1953, Brother John
Sellers and Sonny, 1954, Alonzo Scales and Sonny, 1955 - Big Bill Broonzy and
Sonny, 1957, the book brings you all the way to 1971. I started working for
Sonny in Dec of 1976 - Dec of 1978. Then a fellow named Styve Homnick drove for
Sonny for the next 5 years, not playing harp with him, he played drums and
tried to play harp but was not accomplished. More new wave type back then,
don't know what happened to him
