A few years ago, I removed the wind savers on a Hohner cx-12 chrom...
Just to see what would happen.
I'm sure other people have too.
It made "bends" easy...
But it halved the volume and changed the "sound" of the instrument. For the  
worse!
I guess chromatic players have gotten used to the "valved" sound which is  
different to that of an "un-valved" harp...
