Re: [Harp-L] Re: death of live music?

Every once in a while somebody will talk me into going with them to a
karaoke thing for support of their singing. I'll take along an F, C, and an A harp
and when talked into singing I will play "If you wanna get to heaven" Long
train runnin', or Train Train. There are others, if you look for them. My point
is whenever I do this the room always wakes up big time and I tend to
believe that a few of them will go out to see a blues band or harmonica laced band
after that. Sometimes it's kind of nice to not deal with a drummer with the 3
D syndrome (drunk, drummers, drag) or volume wars or what have you. Don't
get me wrong now, bands are really the only way to flow, but sometimes I do
this anyway.

The DJ & karaoke thing is the cheap and easy way out.
In most areas there are a few clubs that "get it" and do what it takes to
hire and promote good shows but they are. as we have been discussing. far
and few between.
