Hi Ken
I really can´t tell in the name of Hering Harmonicas, but I believe
this harp is just a regular diatonic harp (no special tunings like lee
oskar´s MM, NM, etc), but customized for better airtight, response and
**probably** a brighter tone (optimized for solos, not chords)
Fabricio Casarejos and some other luthiers were hired recently by
Hering Harmonicas (I am not sure since when, maybe a couple of months)
in order to improve their harps quality. From my point of view, the
new player, Bends harmonicas, has brought some healthy competition
effects in the Brazilian harp market :-) we´re experiencing some sort
of a "gold rush" for professional harp endorsers by both factories,
and at the same time Bends Harmonicas is promising some nice
surprises, Hering Harmonicas is also trying to deliver better
products.
Obviously, who wins is the customer :-)
Jefferson Goncalves is one of the most representative Brazilian
harmonica players. He plays mostly diatonic, with influences of blues,
country and specially some Brazilian regional rhythms such as forró, a
typical sound from the northeast side of the country. He use to play
with a madcat shaker microphone, which seems to fit to his percussive
style of playing.

Hi gang,
I was just surfing at one of the online harp stores
(Best Lil' Harp House) and saw a new Hering model
called the "Hering Jefferson Goncalves Signature
Harmonica".
The brief description says that the harp features
antique gold colored cover plates (similar
coloration as the antique brass of the 1923
Vintage) and a "tuning made specially by Hering
endorsee and harmonica player Jefferson Gonçalves
and the Hering luthier Fabrício Casarejos."
Apparently it's a "very personal tuning", but there
isn't any more info about the tuning on the page.
Does anyone know what this tuning might entail? I
am not familiar with Goncalves music and there
wasn't a note layout available on the Web page.

I'm curious about this harp.
