Up until now I have refrained from saying anything about Paul delay's
passing out of respect for those who knew him. I didn't know him and I've
never heard him play although I will remedy that soon. What I do know is that if
I can live my life and gain the love and respect that he has gotten and has
been shown on this list, and I'm sure many others, then maybe I will have
accomplished what I have set out to do. Paul deLay sounds like the guy I'd like
to be when I grow up. (I'm almost 50) He showed love to everybody, he was
happy most of the time and he was an awesome musician/songwriter. I sure wish I
could make it to this memorial concert and pick up more of what he was about.
I've spent my life trying to emulate the great players I have come across. I
most definitely have my own style now but it looks like I have to go back to
school, not just for licks but to learn more about how to live my life and be
a better person/musician. Rest in peace Paul, we'll meet one day.
