As has been discussed in years past vibrato and tremolo have not had
constant musical definitions. In fact they started out completely
flipped with vibrato meaning amplitude modulation and tremolo meaning
frequency modulation. Regarding hand vibrato, I'd suspect that like a
Leslie speaker what you hear is a combination of fm and am with the
variation in volume being more prominent but that of course will vary
with the frequency of the note. fjm
