True enough. It makes you a louder player.And it is fun to design a
rig that you can carry and afford and be audible in bar settings. You
can have tone for days but if no one hears it it becomes existential.
One should practice with their rig. There are some mic techniques
cupping techniques etc that are well worth practicing. I like to keep
a space between the harp and the mic--a little echo chamber. Those
kind of things
There is some concern among some people that materialism will delude
people into believing that tone is something you buy. Still, there's
no sense going to a job without tools, and if you can afford it, it
pays to get good quality tools.
