Wrong gear = Great In, Garbage Out.

Well, it's actually a 4 cell (2x2) table:
Great In, Great Out (if gear meets minumium requirement)
Great in, Garbage Out (if gear does not meet minimum requirement, eg., 
feedback)
Garbage In, Garbage Out (regardless of gear)
Garbage In, Great Out (probably the empty cell in the table!)

Of course, that treats quality as a dichotomous variable.
