So wasn't the old slap back in the 50s added after the fact? Until  
someone invented a protable tape echo in the 60s, weren't the harp  
players playing sans delay? And if you wanted the 50s Chicago delay  
wouldn't you be delaying the distorted amp sound, not ditorting and  
amping up the delayed sound?
