Hi Captain.

Well, Hohner has fixed the problem with the varnish on Marine Band Deluxe in
2005 already. But the problem was not associated to the fact that Hohner
chose, for accoustic and economic reasons not to seal the surfaces of the
body which come in contact with the plates.
Steve Baker, who counseled Hohner during the development of the MBDLX wanted
to stay as close to the original Marine Band sound, and tests showed that
the protection, as it is now, is enough. This keeps the price from being
even higher.
