Re: [Harp-L] Amplified Chromatic: Thumb or Finger?

Here is a video of Bill playing. It looks to me that he uses a large cup that accommodates enough of the harp such that it doesn't have to move much, but you be the judge. And, why, if it ain't my old buddy Lazy B on guitar.

Here's the video on Youtube:

Thanks Vince...I assume that, as his playing takes him up and down the
register , he moves either the mic or harmonica so that the harmonica
remains in front of the mic? Or not?

For those not willing to go through all that, he uses the index
finger on the slide.

I would recommend going through all that, though, because along the
way you can check out some gutpuppet tunes on the myspace page, and
they kick some major booty.

And when it comes to harmonica tone and/or technique (and musicality,
artistry, etc., etc.,) for my money you simply cannot go wrong
emulating Bill Barrett.

You folks who play chromatic amplifed, holding a bullet mic...do
you use
your thumb or finger on the slide? Seems like you might get a
tighter cup
using thumb....what does Bill Barret do? i know Vince M has played
a lot
with Barret; what about it Vince?
