Re: [Harp-L] Yakety Sax
22 Bars? As I recall, 'Yacketty Sax/Axe" (which came first? Chet Atkins
recorded the second title) is basically a sixteen bar tune based on the
same chords as "When the Saints go Marching In" (or for that matter "My
Babe", "She'll be coming round the Mountain", "Thirty Days", "Crawdad
Hole", "Mama don't allow" , "This train am bound for Glory" etc. etc.
etc.)
If it's in C, it would go:
C six bars
G 2 bars
C 2 bars
F 2 bars
C 2 bars*
G 1 bar*
C 1 bar*
.....the main difference between this and the above tunes is in the
last four bars*. The usual 'Saints' progression which would be:
C 1 bar
G 1 bar
C 2 bars

The recent death of Nashville sax player Boots Randolph brings to mind
his
biggest hit: Yakety Sax.
Does anyone play it on the harp?
It starts out in the key of C and jumps to F after about 22 bars.
