Yes, it's a good choice for that purpose. If you don´t need  different 
amp sounds (the Roland has emulatin for a few models) but just want a 
nice distorted chicago sound and won´t need to play clean you might 
want to check out the Pignose 7-100 first - less bucks, more crunch.
