That's exactly how it is. Many musicians say you can "progress" from blues to jazz, soul, fusion or whatever. But then you have a limited understanding of the blues. The seeming simplicity of blues contains countless nuances...well, Roger put it well by saying that one note might be more significant than several in another genre.
This is of course a matter of taste and has to do with IMO :). Nevertheless, all genres of harp have their place on this planet and should be respected. But as far as blues is concerned, you either have it or you don't.
