Last fall I was at a rehearsal studion in NYC and as I went to the
bathroom down the hall I heard some sweet sounds, I peaked in a room
and spied Michael with Pat Metheny, Gil Goldstein and Jack
De Johnette....they were workin on Brecker's new CD which I guess
will soon be released what I heard that day sounded terrific!

I'm not ready for this getting old stuff that keeps happening. Micheal
Brecker was one the big reasons I learned to play sax. I will surely miss him. He
played with feel more than just about any other sax player around in my
younger days. IMHO He could be technical when he wanted to, but when he played I
could feel it in me bones. That's what I aspire to do, make people feel what I
play. "Course I don't want 'em to feel sick at their stomach but you know
what I mean. I used to play drums for a buddy of mine in a practice studio off
of Houston by Katz's deli and I always wondered what the people upstairs
could hear, the thought that Micheal was in the next studio room across the hall
would have pumped me up and terrified me at the same time. Pat Metheny too?
I'd still be shakin', how'd you play after seeing those guys in there?
