[Harp-L] The Thrill is Gone
It's about these minor key blues.
Jon Gindick sent me a tab for "Summertime" played in the second position
key (start on the four draw) and this version is good bending practice for
minor keys using the 3 draw bend. I can compare how it sounds when played
in third or fourth position and hear if I have the bend dead on.
I have found, however, that I can't play minor key blues in second position
in live situations. I still forget what I'm doing and hit the 3 draw unbent
- that clashes with the music. I've got a story I'll tell later.
While I'm talking about practice tabs., I worked out a tab for "Dream a
Little Dream of Me" (Louie Armstrong, Moma Cass) starting on the four blow.
This way it uses all the draw bends on the two draw, three draw, the four
and six draw bends and the four and five overblows. Try it! Great song and
great exercise.
