Apologies - having actually picked up a guitar to check, the sequence of the
main riff is not quite that pattern (Bb not B), and despite lots of people
playing it in E, when I actually looked up the score, it's originally a Gmin
Pentatonic. Finally, for the signature riff, the root of the x5 power chord
is dropped, So, putting the higher note on the upper line...
G Bb C | G Bb Db C | G Bb C | Bb G
D F G | D F Ab G | D F G | F D
The verse then arpeggiates the G5 power chord (with root this time) as "3
notes, rest", and throws in an F5 as the turnaround.

I'm not sure how you'd play this properly on a harp, as it gains its energy
from "power chords", ie root plus 5th From memory, the main riff is
E5 G5 A5 | E5 G5 B5 A5 | E5 G5 A5 | G5 E5
I'm not aware of any conventional harp tuning that would fit this easily -
or is this playable?
Start on 2 draw (and an A harp to match the original notes), and you can
play the E5 as 2D+4D. However the G5 would have to be 3D' + 5D, which I
can't do cleanly... The other notes are easier, 4B+6B and 4D+6D
Now I did hear a version of The Who's "Baba Reilly" where the violin at the
end was replaced by harp the other day, which was VERY cool.

I had a student ask if I knew the riff to Smoke in the
Water. To be honest, I've heard the song, but don't
even remember how it goes. Anybody have that one?
I am totally going to quote that Hendrix riff this
weekend. Thanks to Rob for posting it.
